Cricut Explore Air Christmas Brunch Project

November 14, 2019

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

How do you make your Holidays personal? Do you give handmade gifts? Do you plan a dinner or get together? Do you just spend quality time with your loved ones?

I do all of the above and it means the world to me, and thanks to Cricut I can do it with the most Amazing personal touches.

Every Christmas since I’ve been born has been a special event. My mother would make sure we all were together, the tree was well decorated and lighting up the house every night. Gifts were always overflowing. Coordinating pajamas and big cute Christmas slippers were mandatory. Plenty of food and and endless supply of eggnog was one of my favorite parts. On Christmas eve we all opened one gift while cracking jokes and telling old stories, and my Mom was the main part of every memory I have of Christmas.

In 2016 we lost my mom to Cancer and my sisters and I basically gave up on celebrating anything. We honestly felt bad doing anything without mommy. But in doing so we were depriving her grandchildren of one of her many and favorite traditions.

In 2018 my sons came to me and reminded me that my mother would not be pleased with the way we had her grandchildren celebrating Christmas. They basically gave me an intervention and it worked.

So last year I hosted my 1st Annual Sister’s Christmas Brunch with my 3 younger sisters and all of our kids (10 of them).

The four of us plan it together, I’m in charge of the theme and decorations, Jenelle chooses the pajamas and slippers for everyone, Tamika is in charge of the menu and treats, and Taiesha is in charge of the music and games. Last year the Ginger Bread House decorating contest got really competitive.

This year I used my Explore Air to help me to Make it Personal. I did the same last year by the way. I love to personalize my decorations, and my family enjoys is as well.

This years brunch theme is “Merry Craftmas” it isn’t time for the brunch but I started working on our table set up. there a space for our breakfast, my personalized stemless whine glasses for my sisters and an area set up as a Make and Take for the kids, where they can make their own Infusible Ink t-shirts or coasters.

The supplies I used for the s

  • Cricut Air 2 and mat
  • 12/24 card stock & mat
  • Glitter card stock
  • Yellow vinyl
  • Pink Premium Perl vinyl
  • Infusible ink t shirt
  • infusible ink coaster
  • easy press2
  • transfer tape

First, we’ll start with my “Merry Craftmas” sign. I used the font Gypsy (which I love) I used only two layers out of the three that was available.

I typed in the words the I minimized the spacing of the letters so they were close together (practically on top of each other) then ungroup it. Separate the layers then weld the letters to each other.

Once that’s done put them back together, the top and bottom layer , then group them and change the width to 23 inches.

Sent to cut with the 12/24 inch mat. I put the setting on poster board.

With the glitter card stock, line them up right next to each other on the 12/24 mat.

Glue the glitter layer on top of the colored layer using a glue gun or a glue pen.

I used foam circles to stock the words on the wall.

For the Charger plate and stem less wine glasses, I types the names and the word “Santa” in the Gypsy font and the other words on the plate are typed in “A Childs Year” font.

The named for the glasses are 3 inches in width and the wording on the plate are 6 inches in width.

I sent them all to cut on the vinyl setting with the vinyl facing up and you don’t have to mirror the image.

I weeded off the pieces that weren’t needed.

I used the transfer tape to cover the words then peeled it off of the white backing.

Then I placed it on the the glass and the plate. I used the small scraper to press it on to the item, then peel the transfer tape off.

And my personalized items are done.

Once my personal items were complete I set up a Make and Take station for the kids so they can create their own t-shirts and coasters.

You can find my infusible ink tutorial here.

One of the reasons I love my Cricut so much is because they allow me to Make thing Personal and sentimental my my family and I.

I have a few more projects I have to work on to complete our Sisters Christmas Brunch but I know Mommy is looking down at us smiling knowing we’re going to continue to focus on spending quality time together especially during the holidays
