In this blog post, I’ll walk you through how to use these printable bag toppers to create a festive finishing touch for your Halloween goodie bags.
What Are Halloween Bag Toppers?
Bag toppers are decorative cards that you can place on top of small treat bags. They make your candy bags look polished and complete with a simple, custom-designed topper that matches the Halloween theme. My free printable bag toppers feature spooky designs that are kid-friendly and perfect for any Halloween event.
How to Use the Printable Halloween Bag Toppers
- Download the Free Printables First, download the free printable bag toppers from this week’s Freebie Friday. Each design prints 4 toppers per page, so you can easily create multiple bags at once.
Head over to my resource library to grab your free file. If its your first time and dont have access to the password, just sign up HERE to my mailing list and it’ll be sent to you. - Print Your Bag Toppers Use a color printer to print the bag toppers on card stock or heavy paper for durability. I used a glossy card stock. Regular printer paper works too, but card stock ensures your toppers stay upright and secure on your bags. Make sure to use bright, vibrant colors to get the most out of the design.
3. Cut Out the Toppers After printing, use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut along the edges of each bag topper. You’ll end up with four individual toppers per page.
4. Fold the Toppers in Half Once they’re cut out, simply fold each topper in half to create a crease. This fold will fit over the top of your treat bag, making it easy to secure and display.
5. Fill Your Treat Bags Fill your clear treat bags with candy, small toys, or other Halloween goodies. Seal the bag with a twist tie or by pressing it closed.
6. Attach the Toppers to the Bags Place the folded bag topper over the sealed end of your treat bag. Then, using a stapler, staple the topper to the bag at the top, making sure to catch both sides of the folded topper and the bag beneath it.
Tips for Making Your Halloween Bag Toppers Extra Special
- Personalize them! You can handwrite names or a fun message on the back of the topper for a personal touch.
- Laminate the toppers for extra durability, especially if you want them to last the whole season.
- Try printing on glitter card stock or other textured papers to add dimension and flair to your bag toppers.
- Get creative with your treat bag fillings—mini glow sticks, stickers, or spooky toys are a fun alternative to candy.
