This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

Whether you’re planning a small party at home or a grand celebration at an event space, your “>Cricut Maker and its Quick Swap tools are here to help you.

Using the wavy blade, along with debossing tip Im going to show you how to use your Maker to create decorations like a pro.

The Maker was launched two years ago, time really flies because it seems like they came out only yesterday. During the launch, Cricut promised to come out with more tools and materials so that  Maker could grow with us as we create new crafts,  boy oh boy did they deliver.

Dont forget these tools are only for the Maker.

Before we start creating, Im going to quickly explain all of the new the tools and how they are used (even though we’re only using two of them for this project.

Wavy Blade with Quick Swab Housing

You will only need one Quick Swap Housing.

The wavy blade is used to give your project a beautiful clean wavy edge. It can be used on card stock, vinyl, iron on, fabric and more.

Measurements: 2.0 mm L / 0.8 mm H

Material: Stainless steel

Perforation Blade

This one is my favorite blade so far. It creates a tear off line on your project. Like a raffle ticket. It can be used on card stock, vinyl, iron on, fabric and more.

Measurements: 2.5 mm teeth / 0.5 mm gaps

Material: Stainless steel

Debossing Tip

Debossing is basically the opposite of embossing, this tip will press the design in your material. Just like the other tips, it can be used on lots of materials such as paper and more. I would not recommend it for iron on or every day vinyl.

Measurements: 2.0 mm

Material: Stainless steel

Engraving Tip

This tip can be used to engrave dog tags, flat, soft metals, leather, acrylic, plastic, anodized aluminum, and more

Now that I’ve gone over the tools and what they’re used for, its time to Create.

Materials needed:

  • Maker
  • Wavy blade
  • Deep cut blade
  • Standard grip mat
  • Adhesive foam circles
  • Glue pen
  • Card stock (gold, white & black)
  • Glitter Card stock (red &gold)
  • Hole puncher
  • Bakers twine
  • Glue gun & glue sticks

We’re going to start with the party banner.

Log in to Design Space and start a new project. Then you’re going to add a square and change the height to 6 inches, unlock the measurements and change the width to 4.5 inches. Change to line type to wavy. You can do that by going to the top of the page where it says “line type”. Right under that you will see a drop down option, click on it and choose wave. On the right side of that you will see a square, that’s where you choose the color of your image. Change this square to gold. Then duplicate that square, change the color to red and make it a little smaller than the first square. Now you’re going to duplicate the red one, change it to white and make it a little smaller. So now you have three squares in size order that are going to be cut with the wavy blade.

Highlight all three layers and group them together. You will see the option to group in the top right side of the screen. Now that they are grouped together as one, you’re going to duplicate that two times. If you’re making a longer sign then duplicate the square to accommodate the amount you need.

Now it time for the letters. Type in ONE or whatever you would like the sign to say. Then go to the top right of the page so you can change the font. On the font options, click the drop down menu and type in “Carousel”. The Carousel font will open with one layer. You will have to go to the layer panel on the right side of the screen and unlock the second layer. Make the second layer black and the top layer white. And now Save your project and sent it to cut.

Now that you have all your pieces cut, your going to use your glue pen to adhere the top layer (the gold glitter) to the bottom layer (black card stock)

For the 3 layers of squares, use the adhesive foam circles to layer them. Put a circle in each corner and one in the center.
The letters willgp on top of the white layer the same way (with the adhesive foam circles)
Once that’s complete, use a hole puncher to punch a hole on both sides of the top of each banners then thread the bakers twins through them all.

And now we move on to the cake topper.

These are all the files we’re going to use to create the cake topper.
  • Type in ONE with the Carousel font (like we did with the banner). Make the two circles 5.5 inches.
  • Duplicate the circle with the hallow middle then set them to the side.
  • Take the full circle, duplicate it and put one to the side, then take the second one and place it on top of the swirls.
  • Highlight them both and slice them. Only keep the swirl image that’s in a circle shape now.
  • Go to the top right and change the swirl design to “deboss”
These are the pieces you should have.
  • Now that that’s done your going to put the swirl design over the circle that we set aside (matching them up as perfectly as you can)
  • Highlight them both and attach (the attach option is at the bottom right side of the screen.

Layer everything together in design space and group them all. Make sure the size is about 5.5 to 6 inches.

Save your project, choose your machine then send to cut.

  • Cut the letters the same colors (black and with red glitter card stock) like the banner
  • the girl that will be debased will be the gold card stock
  • red pieces will be cut with red glitter card stock
  • and the white an be any white card stock.
For the letters use the glue pen to glue the red on to the black.

You can use the same glue the gold debossed piece to the white circle then glue one of the red hallow circles on top of that.

Glue the bakers twine across the circle by putting two dots of glue (from the glue gun on each side)
Then glue the letters on to he string.
The second red glitter hallow circle will be adhered to the other one using glue dots (a size smaller than the one used on the banner.

Glue the whole topper on to a candy stick and we’re done.

You can see the full video tutorial here.

I went back and printed the image of a ticket to stick in the middle because I thought the space was empty.

I hope this was heplful. Leave a comment or ask a question below. you can also share this on Pinterest, facebook, or twitter.
