DIY Newborn Set with Cricut Easy Press Minis

September 30, 2019

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

The Cricut Easy Press Mini is the new addiction to the Easy Press 2 family. This little baby is small and very cute but don’t under estimate it, its just as powerful as all the other Easy Press 2 machines. And you can also use it with your infusible ink projects.

Im using it to make a Newborn hat and mitten set for Halloween. No matter the age, we can all dress up for Halloween. And the best part about it is that this projects only takes about 10 minutes to do

Supplies Needed:

  • Cricut Maker or Air with a mat
  • Easy Press Mini
  • Heat resistant mat
  • Weeding tool
  • Iron on vinyl (gold glitter & purple) or any color combination you choose.
  • newborn hat and mittens

I purchased the Cloud Island mittens and hat from Target. The 3 pack of hats are $6.99 and the 4 pack of mittens are $5.99. Both are the newborn size.

Open Design Space

We always start by designing our project project. The images we’re using is the “Ghost Wearing a Bow” and “Bows and Boos Text”

For the ghost: change the width to 1.655 and the height to 1.792

For the “bows and boos” your going to use the square to slice the word apart (see video for reference)

Once you’ve sliced the images, line them up together. Change the bow and the words bows and to gold then change the ghost and the word boos to purple.

attach the words bows and (so they cut on the mat together. Then group together all of the words “bows and boos” and change with width to 4 inches.

THEN SAVE YOUR PROJECT.

Once everything is a saved, choose which machine your cutting with (top right of the screen) then send to cut. Mirror each mat. Then place the vinyl with the shiny side facing the mat. wit the glitter iron on, face the glittery side to the mat.

In the mean time, we’re going to plug in our easy press mini and press the power button 3 times (so all three wavy buttons are red) When the mini easy ready the three lights will turn green and will will make a beeping noise.

Once they are all cut, using the weeding tool to peel off the vinyl that won’t be used, be very careful with this step.

Place the wording along the border of the hat and hold the mini on it for about 40 seconds. Let it cool for a few seconds then peel it off.

With the mittens your going to press the ghost first, keep the plastic once you peel it off. Then lay the boy in place, cover the entire image with the plastic from the ghost. (we dont want to press the bow and melt the ghost, so that’s why we cover the entire image)

Hold for about 40 second, let to cool, then peel off.

And that is it. Our project is complete.

O h adorable.
This is another set I created using a different type of hat (from the same pack) and different wording. Both just too cute to be true.
