Its SUMMER. Whats the first thing you think about when you think of summer?
You’re probably thinking about the beach, ice-cream, amusement parks, and things of that nature. Im the opposite, all I think about is crafting, summer crafts, decorating my bags, shoes, basically everything so they look cute for the summer.
So when I started working on my free Summer Craft file for you guys all I could think about was a cute bag to carry our craft supplies in.
And that’s how I came up with this cute “Sun, Fun, and my favorite glue gun” file.
Supplies Needed:
- Cutting machine & mat (Im using my Cricut Maker)
- Htv and Canvas tote was purchased from Michaels
- Weeding tool
- Easy Press or a Heat Press
- Mat
- Free svg file ** Down Here **
So lets get started.
After you download the file. Open Design Space and upload it to your canvas.
Now, we’re going to ungroup the file and attache the letters together.
Look at the top right of the screen, above all the layers, the Ungroup feature is there.
The next step will be to attache “Sun, Fun”
Highlight that part (like the picture then select “Attach) which is located at the bottom right of the screen.
When you send your project to the mat, the letters will be unorganized if you don’t attache them.
So we’re going to repeat the process for the words “& My Favorite Glue Gun”
I decided to use tow different color pinks for this project along with the black and silver. You’re free to use any color of your choice.
Before you send your project to cut, you want to measure your bag (or whatever item you choose to put the project on) That way u know what size to change your image to.
I just used a simple measuring tape and measured the height and width I would like it. Once you have the size, Group the entire project together and change the size to what you just measured.
Save your project. The send it to the mat.
MIRROR EVERY LAYER.
This part is very important. When using htv (heat transfer vinyl) you want to mirror your images. All of them.
Im using the green mat.
Lay your htv on the mat with the shiny side touching the mat. (so the side that has the kind of clear piece over it)
Choose the “Everyday Vinyl Setting” and Lets Go.
Once all the layers are cut, it’s time to weed them. Weeding basically means to remove the excess vinyl from your project.
When using any type of htv, its important to know what temperature to use and how long you should press.
There’s a Guide for that. Cricut has a Heat Guide for that.
You select the Machine you’re using, then the htv material, then base material, choose if you’re using an Easy Press Mat or a towel and click Apply
It will then tell you:
- what temperature to set it
- how much pressure you need
- if you should flip and press the back
- and if you can peel it hot or cool
Now that you’ve got your settings, turn on your Easy Press set it to 300 degrees, set 15 seconds on the timer, and lets get started.
Lay your bag on top of your mat and line up your design exactly how you would want it.
Lay your Easy Press on top of it and Press start.
Because the project is a little large, I pressed the top first and then bottom half.
Then I let it cool for a little and peeled the paper off of the glue gun and added the handle, the tip, and the glue stick. Make sure to put the clear paper back on top before pressing it again.
Press the gun again for 15 seconds.
And that’s all folks.
Look how cute this is. OMG
Now we have our handy dandy crafty bag to take with us all summer long. It also makes a great shopping bag.
